The Rock

We left Kulgera pretty quickly as there wasn't much to see and drove on towards the rock. Everyone in the car except me got pretty excited when we saw Mt Connor as they thought it was Uluru. Having done this trip before with school way back in 1990 I knew better! We started a competition worth $5 for the person who saw the rock first and Tommy was victorious. We checked into the campground and the boys spent the afternoon at the pool.
I watched the sunrise from a viewing area at the caravan park. Even though this is my third visit, it is still amazing to see.

The next morning we drove out to Uluru stopping at the Cultural Centre on the way in. Jack in particular was very interested in some of the stories surrounding Uluru. We skyped 3S (Jack's class) from the base of Uluru which was very exciting- amazing technology.
We did the Mala walk which went part way around the base to a waterhole.

These rock paintings have been carbon dated to about 20,000 years ago.

Michael took the two older boys out to watch the sunset over Uluru which was really beautiful. They say on the rook of the Landcruiser to watch it.
