Day 2 and we finally hit SA

Well it was great to finally get out of Victoria. We didn't leave until 11:30 yesterday and only made it as far as St Arnaud for our first night. Left there at about 9 this morning and drove towards Mildura. It is amazing how much there is to see when you are not in a hurry! Our first stop was Donald where we found a park full of old trains. The boys particularly liked the toilet train!

Our next stop was at a tiny town whose name we can't remember, which had an interesting rock monument for the bi-centennial.

Bit hard to tell from the photo but it was shaped like Australia, even had Tassie down the bottom!
Just before Mildura we found Big Lizzie. So we can cross this off the list of big things to see! It was actually very interesting and I managed to sneak in a history lesson about the post WW1 settlement of the area.

We finally hit Mildura and made a quick trip across the Murray just to say we had been to NSW.

The boys were keen to stop but we pushed them through to the border so we can say we went to three states in one day. Stopped in Renmark for the night at a really nice caravan park right on the Murray. It is so warm! Really nice to drag out the shorts and t-shirts again.
Everything has gone really well so far. We had a problem with the lights but it turned out to be a loose plug so easily fixed. The boys did brilliantly in the car today, we left at 9 this morning and didn't get to the caravan park until 5 this afternoon so it was a really long day. Here is one way they entertained themselves!

Tomorrow we head to Burra. Not sure if we will keep going after that, the kids may need a shorter day in the car. Just follow our new motto: no itinerary.......

Location:Renmark SA
